1. Introduction
Hello! I’m Álvaro Paniagua Ordóñez, and I’m excited to share my final report for the WP Credits course. This post summarizes my contributions to WordPress Credits, the challenges I faced, and the skills I have acquired.
2. Teams and Projects I Participated In
- Teams: I collaborated with WordPress.com, and I relied on AI tools like Gemini and ChatGPT, as well as my mentor.
- Project Focus: My main work focused on creating a website with daily posts about my progress (my onboarding experience, contributions, etc.).
3. Learning Resources
- Guides & Tutorials: To get started, I primarily relied on my mentor to help me move forward, and I also asked my classmates for help.
- Mentorship: I received guidance from my mentor, Angel Zinsel, who helped me with my contributions and the creation of the website.
4. Challenges and Solutions During this process, I faced a few obstacles, but I learned how to overcome them:
- Challenge 1: Creating the website, as I didn’t know very well how it worked.
- Solution: I solved this by asking my mentor, AI tools, and my classmates, who explained how everything worked.
- Challenge 2: Problems with Polyglots (translations).
- Solution: I overcame this by asking my mentor and classmates. After that, I started translating and sharing my translation links with the WordPress translator community.
5. My Contributions This is the main contribution I made during the project:
- Polyglots

6. Key Lessons from the WP Credits Course The WP Credits course taught me the true value of collaboration. My key takeaways include:
- I learned to work in a team with people I didn’t know before, which was a very good experience.
- I learned how to easily create websites thanks to WordPress, make edits, and learn the values of the WordPress community.
- I learned to ask others for help without getting overwhelmed. There were times when I felt very stuck, but thanks to the help of my mentor and classmates, I managed to push forward.
7. New Skills Acquired Through this hands-on project, I acquired several valuable skills:
- Technical Skills: I learned to create websites in WordPress and to use WordPress and Slack proficiently.
- Soft Skills: I learned to communicate better with people and in a professional environment.
8. Personal Reflections and Next Steps Contributing to WordPress has been a very good experience. What surprised me the most was creating the website; I found it very interesting because of all the tools and conveniences it offers, especially knowing you have the support of a mentor by your side.
Looking to the future, my goals are to finish my studies and work as a web application developer. I would also like to mentor beginners in the future and help them just as others have helped me.
